An 83-year-old husband from Germany recently revealed that he bought 55,000 designer gowns for his wife so she wouldn't have to wear the same one twice.
As reported by The Sun, Paul Brockmann stores all the gowns in a specially designed closet inside his garage. The closets are big and the gowns are stored inside three 50-foot containers.
The couple, who hail from East Mesa, Arizona, first met at a dance hall many years ago in Germany.
Paul explained in a video by New York Post why he began collecting designer gowns for Margot who he has been married to for 61 years.
"We danced all night, and we fell in love that night. That's the time when they had wide skirts and petticoats," Paul says in the video.
Interestingly, Paul purchased most of the gowns from sales and closeouts.
He didn't want his wife to wear the same gown twice so he started collecting new designs.
Paul's collection is so huge that at one point he had a deal with Sears, an American department store.
"When the styles were changing, they would call me up and sell me the dresses at a very reasonable price," said Paul.
Paul stopped collecting gowns in 2014 when his garage finally ran out of space.
The couple has sold more than 7000 gowns and are looking to sell the remaining 48,000 in years to come.
However, 200 ‘special gowns’ are not for sale as Paul wants to keep them for Margot
