WhatsApp for Android gets group call button shortcut ,GIF bug fix : What:s new

WhatsApp has started rolling out new WhatsApp group voice calling and WhatsApp group video calling shortcut update in the form of a dedicated calling button. The features came in last year when WhatsApp started rolling out group voice and video calling feature to the public. Now WhatsApp for Android has started receiving a new update which now brings a dedicated WhatsApp call button in group chats. The WhatsApp group call button was already rolled out to Apple iPhone users on WhatsApp for iOS. The new WhatsApp group call feature works similar to standard WhatsApp calling - all members of the group get a call and video call button. The new WhatsApp update for Android also fixes the bug which caused a malfunction in the GIF functionality.

Users can add their WhatsApp video call contacts in a group from a slide-out tray which contains the contact cards of all the participants in the group. The new WhatsApp version update (v2.19.9) was first reported by WABetainfo. The new WhatsApp group calling feature update could be a positive thing, considering the earlier WhatsApp group calling update was an uphill task. Users had to first start video calling or voice calling a single contact. Once the WhatsApp call was in progress, users had to tap a button placed on the top-right corner of the display so they could add another WhatsApp contact to the call. Once the call was connected to the new user, the 'Add Person' button would again appear on the top above the participant to whom the WhatsApp call needs to be connected. The entire process was exhaustive.

The new WhatsApp update for group calls and video calls means that now WhatsApp video calls and voice calls are easy to connect without having to go for multiple clicks to perform a WhatsApp group video or voice call.

The WhatsApp group video calling and voice calling feature was first spotted in a beta build back in November. If you look at WhatsApp group screen, you will see that there is a dedicated WhatsApp call button on the top right corner in the group chats. Once you tap the call button, there will be a slide-out tray which contains a list of the WhatsApp group participants. Select the participants and you can start the WhatsApp video call or voice call.

If you want to download the latest WhatsApp Android update, head over to the Google Play store or you can also visit WhatsApp.com/Android. The latest WhatsApp group call shortcut arrived for Apple iPhone iOS users last month. WhatsApp also fixed the GIF bug which caused issues with the WhatsApp GIF tab inside the app but has now been fixed with the latest WhatsApp update
