NASA looking for comedian for first manned mission to Mars to help boost morale of astronauts

Have you ever thought of an astronaut as a comedian? Well, probably not! Studious, intelligent and serious are the traits that have long been associated with astronauts for obvious reasons, however, in a recent research NASA found out that a person with good sense of humour could be the best fit for a successful long mission to Mars. An individual with a good sense of humour will help boost the team spirit and morale of the astronauts on board to a two-year trip to Mars.

According to a report by Mail online, Jeffrey Johnson, Professor of Anthropology at the University of Florida, Gainesville said that the people with good sense of humour have the ability to lighten the mood of those around. They can lift the morale of people even in the most tensed situations. Mission to Mars is no cakewalk. Astronauts are most likely to face situations which can lead to anxiety and stress.

Therefore for a successful journey to the red planet, it is important to have somebody on board who can help astronauts relieve their tension so that they can do their job and safely return back to Earth. Jeffrey further explained that at a workplace it is enjoyable to be around a person who makes people laugh and bring joy to the work.

However, he added that being funny will not be the sole trait that could land somebody the job. They would also be able to clear a rigorous training regime along with the fact that they would be required to be great scientists and engineers.
