A 32-year-old Indian-origin woman Preethi Reddy who went missing in Sydney, Australia on March 3, has been found dead. The dentist's body was found in a suitcase in her vehicle — a grey Volkswagen Golf — in an eastern Sydney street on March 5. According to the New South Wales (NSW) Police department, Reddy was stabbed multiple times before being allegedly murdered. According to the police, Reddy was last seen standing in a queue at McDonald's in George Street on Sunday, March 3.
In its report, NSW police department said that she and a 'man known to her' stayed at a hotel in Market Street in Sydney's CBD on Sunday. She was attending a dental conference in St Leonards over the weekend and last made contact with her family about 11 am on Sunday, saying she planned to head home after having a late breakfast in Sydney- NSW police said on their website.
While the family informed police when she failed to return, the man Preethi Reddy stayed with, also died in an apparently 'deliberate' accident — a head-on collision, at about 10 pm on Monday. CNN referred to the man as 'suspect'.
While police are investigating the matter further, the family and colleagues of the dentist said that they were terrified by the news of her disappearance and death. "It's devastating, and this is completely out of character," Chelsea Holmes of Glenbrook Dental Surgery told Australian Broadcasting Corporation. "I spoke to her last Thursday and it was 'see you next week' and completely normal," she said.
