Booker Prize Announcement for Two Writers of the Year Award for English Novels

London: The Booker Prize, the highest award for English novels, has been awarded to two female authors.

The Booker Prize is awarded annually to novels published and written in the English language. This year's Booker Award has been jointly awarded to

Canadian writer Margaret Atwood and UK writer Bernardine Everisto.

Generally, the book is given only to one writer. The award was finally awarded to two writers in 1992. Thereafter, the rule was changed and it was decided to provide only one.

At this year's prize competition, Atwood wrote the novel The Testament. There was fierce competition from Everesto's Girl, Woman, and other novel. The selectors, who were reluctant to give up, decided to break the Booker Prize clause after a five-hour debate and distribute the prize to both authors. Accordingly, a total of ₹ 45 lakhs of prize money will be distributed. Everisto holds the record for becoming the first black woman to receive the Booker Prize in 1969
