The Board of Control for Cricket in India announced on Thursday, 21 February 2019 that Hardik Pandya, the all-rounder cricketer will not be a part of the upcoming home series against Australia. The cricketer has been ruled out of the limited over series due to a lower back stiffness.

Hardik Pandya, who has been in the news this year for the Koffee with Karan controversy has suffered from an acute back stiffness which is making him unfit to play cricket in the upcoming series. According to reports, his participation in the upcoming IPL is also not certain and a final call is yet to be taken. Back pains can be quite serious and can interfere with regular day-to-day activities. Here are some home remedies for back pain if you suffer from it to give you relief.

Cold therapy
Cold therapy provides relief from inflammation and also relieves pain by slowing down nerve impulses which avoids spasming and pain. Using an ice pack on the affected area can really relieve pain and help you go about your day without much pain. Using the ice pack regularly can help in reducing pain completely in a few days.

Heat therapy
There are several ways to provide heat to the affected area. They include using a hot water bag, heating pad, a hot shower or a hot water tub bath. Heat application for lower back pain or stiffness can help in improving blood flow to the affected area, allowing the area to heal and provide relief.

Exercise
It is important to understand that the easiest way to deal with back pain, is to prevent it. Regular exercise will keep your muscles stretched and flexible so that you do not get a cramp or strain your muscles if you decide to play a sport or work out all of a sudden. Exercise can also help in reducing pain by making the muscles a little relaxed.

Stretch your hamstrings
One very common reason for lower back pain is weak hamstrings. You can get weak hamstrings if you have weak glutes – the muscles in your hips. Having weak hamstrings can cause lower back pain as the stiffness or strain on the hamstrings can extend to the back. It is advised to stretch and exercise your hamstrings regularly to avoid lower back pain or to treat it.

Turmeric milk
Turmeric warm milk is a drink that can cure almost anything that is wrong with the body and it is a drink that almost every mother swears by. Turmeric has anti-inflammatory and antiseptic properties and can help in reducing inflammation that may be causing the pain.
