User's theft case - Rs 4.70 crore fine for Facebook company

The company has been accused of using the user's information without their consent from 2007 to 2017.


The United States-based Cambridge Analytics was accused of using Facebook users in election campaigns. The case was filed with the UK Information Commission on Facebook.


In this case, the UK Information Commission has imposed a penalty of Rs 4.70 crore for Facebook.





According to a report by the UK Information Commission, the company is charged a fine of Rs 4.70 crore as per the UK Information Compliance Rules for allegedly using Customer's information without their consent.


The information collected through various activities used in Facebook company is used for election campaign without the consent of the users. The Facebook company has failed to protect users' privacy information. It is noteworthy that by 2018, the issue of the Cambridge Analytics source, SCCL, has not been removed from the Facebook site
