Rs 13,000 crore debt scam in Punjab National Bank

Diamond trader Neerav Modi's detention has been extended to a record Rs 13,000 crore in Punjab National Bank. Gujarat-based diamond dealer Neerav Modi has fled overseas with a loan of Rs 13,000 crore from the Mumbai branch of the Punjab National Bank, India's public sector bank. This caused a great storm in Indian politics. CBI to probe Neerav Modi's fraud And enforcement agencies are filing and investigating.

At this point, it was revealed that Neerav Modi was roaming free in the British capital London. He was subsequently arrested and jailed by London police on March 19 at the behest of the Indian government. The Westminster court has rejected his repeated bids for bail. Efforts are on to deport him to India. Neerav Modi's court appearance ended today. He was subsequently arraigned in Westminster Court via videoconference.

The court had then extended Neerav Modi's custody till October 17. The court also said that the case relating to the deportation of Neerav Modi is pending in May next year.
