After the 1949 civil war in China, Taiwan became a separate country. However, the Taiwanese landscape, China is celebrating as it belongs to China. Because of this, only a few countries have recognized Taiwan as a separate state. When Tsai Ink Wen took office in Taiwan last year, President Xi Jinping appealed for an alliance with China. With Tsai's refusal, China embarked on a diplomatic mission to isolate Taiwan.
The economically powerful China is using its power to isolate Taiwan and bring down its economy.
According to one of the Pacific nations, Solomon Island announced yesterday that it had cut off its ties with Taiwan just four days ago.
Taiwan's Foreign Minister Joseph Wu has expressed dissatisfaction over his ally's departure from the country, saying he wanted to invest in Kiribati. So far 7 countries have been separated from Taiwan.
This has reduced the number of countries that have diplomatic relations with Taiwan to 15
